Choosing the Best Suited Rubber Expansion Joint Material

There are many selections for rubber expansion joint material, what determines the rubber material selection is the actual working conditions such as flow medium, temperature, pressure and so on. Thus, knowing the features of commonly used rubber material is necessary when choosing the best suited rubber expansion joint .

Fluoro rubber(FPM)

Advantages: rubber expansion joint material of fluororubber has the best oil resistance property comparing to other rubber materials, it also resistant to acid and alkali, radiation and high temperature; besides, it has excellent properties of electrical insulating, mechanical property, chemical resistance, ozone resistance and air aging resistance.

Disadvantages: inferior machinability, expensive, poor cold endurance, low elasticity and gas permeability.

Using temperature: -20íŠ~ 200íŠ


EPDM rubber(EPMEPDM)

Advantages: rubber expansion joint material of EPDM rubber has excellent properties of ozone resistant, ultraviolet ray resistant, weather resistant and aging resistant, as well as good impact elasticity, small proportion.

Disadvantages: poor autohension and mutual viscosity.

Using temperature: -50íŠ~ 150íŠ


Neoprene rubber(CR)

Advantages: rubber expansion joint material of neoprene rubber can be used as special rubber, since it has excellent properties of ozone resistance, nonflammable, acid and alkali resistance, aging resistance, good gas tightness.

Disadvantages: worse cold endurance, larger proportion, expensive, bad electrical insulating property.

Using temperature: -45íŠ~ 100íŠ


Natural rubber(NR)

Advantages: rubber expansion joint material of natural rubber has good elasticity, high strength, good tear resistance, good wear resistance and electrical insulating property.

Using temperature: -60íŠ~ 80íŠ


Nitrile rubber(NBR)

Advantages: rubber expansion joint material of nitrile rubber has features of good heat resistance, good gas tightness, good wear resistance and strong adhesive ability.

Disadvantages: inferior cold endurance and ozone resistance ability, weak elasticity and electrical insulating ability.
